Calculate the total zakat fitrah due for yourself and your dependents, based on your state's rate per person.
total = number of people × rate per person
What's the difference between zakat fitrah and zakat pendapatan (income)?
Zakat fitrah is a small, fixed obligation paid once a year by every Muslim with food surplus, regardless of wealth. Zakat pendapatan (income) is a wealth-based obligation of 2.5% on income above the nisab threshold — a much larger, separate calculation.
When is zakat fitrah due?
It must be paid before the Eid al-Fitr prayer, though most people pay it earlier during Ramadan for convenience — paying it after the Eid prayer is considered a late payment (qada), not zakat fitrah.
Do I pay for my children too?
Yes — the head of household pays zakat fitrah on behalf of every dependent who has food surplus on the day of Eid, including children, provided the household itself is not in need.
